Following the path to a new career
Danielle Vasickanin came to LaGuardia to take the Introduction to Computer Technology course to improve her computer skills. Once involved in classwork, she enrolled in subsequent courses in the Computer Service Technician Certificate Program.
“I decided I wanted to take all the courses to prepare to take the CompTIA A+ certification exam and begin an IT support career,” says Danielle.
Currently an office manager, she completed the program and was able to secure an internship in a managed service provider company, where she says she is gaining valuable work experience that will bring her closer to her goal of obtaining a full-time IT position.
“The instructors are really invested when it comes to students understanding the material and how to be successful in the field after the courses have ended,” notes Danielle. “I feel prepared to take and pass the CompTIA A+ exam.” Her future plans include continuing her education in order to earn the CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications and advance in the IT industry.
